Engaging with Flow Arts

Flow Arts is an umbrella term, used to cover various kinds of object manipulation - juggling balls, poi, staff, contact ball, etc. It is often categorized within circus arts, but is about more than performance. Engaging with flow arts has the potential to create a mind-state of flow for the participant, where time disappears and we become totally immersed in our current activity. A very healthy, therapeutic and purpose inducing state.

Training with a flow arts prop will presents both possibilities and limitations. To master a certain prop, the user will have to practice both coordination, flexibility, agility and strength. Furthermore, flow arts mixes perfectly with dance practices and music, so rhythm, groove, and a sense of aesthetic movement can also be a big part of it.

Songs of Tomorrow are passionate and trained within the flow arts. Working together with prop manufacturers, we bring valuable flow arts equipment to our target communities, to either perform or train with them (depending on location and their capabilities). Practicing flow arts brings together a healthy movement practice, a community-building activity based on sharing and learning and a way to express yourself artistically.
